Abstract
To address the technical challenges of difficult temperature control, insufficient compaction, and frequent low-temperature cracking during asphalt concrete pavement construction in areas with large temperature differences. The deterioration patterns of asphalt concrete performance evaluation indicators under large temperature differences were systematically investigated, and the mechanism by which environmental temperature differences affect the paving and compaction performance of asphalt mixtures was analyzed. Based on warm-mix technology, the mix proportion of modified asphalt mixtures was optimized, and orthogonal tests were conducted to determine the optimum mix proportion and optimum paving temperature suitable for construction under large temperature differences. Finally, an intelligent temperature-control and refined construction-control system covering the entire process of mixing, transportation, paving, and rolling was established. The results show that effective control of asphalt mixture construction temperature is critical to ensuring pavement compaction quality under large temperature differences. Warm-mix technology can reduce mixing and compaction temperatures by 15–20 °C. Combined with full-process intelligent temperature monitoring, it can significantly improve the compaction and smoothness of asphalt pavements under low-temperature construction conditions and reduce low-temperature segregation and cracking, providing a scientifically sound and effective technical solution for highway construction in regions with large temperature differences.
