Abstract
As a carrier of culture, language embodies the unique cultural traits of various ethnic groups. Both English and Chinese boast a wealth of color words, whose vastly divergent cultural connotations are prone to causing misunderstandings in comprehension and expression. This paper conducts a comparative study on the cultural connotations of color words in the two languages, aiming to facilitate effective cross-cultural verbal communication.
