Abstract
The mental health status determines how adolescents serve society is crucial for their development. A survey was conducted on the mental health status of freshmen in Tongling University using a questionnaire survey combined with SCL90. A total of 177 valid questionnaires were collected. The results showed that the scores of obsession and interpersonal sensitivity factors ranked in the top two, with these two factors having more problems. There are significant differences between males and females in seven aspects: somatization, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, depression, anxiety, hostility, paranoia, and psychosis. There is a significant difference between only child and non-only child in terms of hostility and paranoia. A healthy and harmonious family can have a certain impact on the mental health of students. The healthier and more harmonious the family is, the fewer psychological problems it will have. Therefore, different mental health solutions should be provided for different types of students, emphasizing the establishment of a harmonious family environment and strengthening education on student mental health issues in schools.
