Abstract
As a high-tech industry, improving innovation capabilities in the medical device industry is an important manifestation of responding to the call of the country to build a world science and technology powerhouse. This study takes 43 listed medical device enterprises in China from 2018 to 2022 as samples to explore the impact of internal human, material and financial resources as well as external government R&D funding support on innovation ability. After reviewing the literature and considering the availability of data, the index system was established and the empirical research was carried out by stepwise regression. The results showed that the internal input of human resources and capital of medical device enterprises had a positive promoting effect on the innovation ability of enterprises. The equipment invested in R&D has a significant negative impact on the innovation ability of enterprises. The government investment outside the medical device enterprise has a negative impact on the innovation ability of the enterprise, but it is not obvious. After regression analysis, multicollinearity test was carried out to verify the reliability of the regression results again. Therefore, the internal research and development investment of medical device enterprises should pursue the balance between marginal income and marginal cost, and the government should pay attention to the rationality and efficiency of providing research and development funding support.
